I knew the woman who died in this crash. She was part of a very close family and had a pretty good future ahead of her. People take simple things like travelling on the road for granted. You never know when such a time will come and change everyone's lives. So next time you go somewhere, whether it's on a road trip, out to a nightclub, or even a trip to the supermarket, just realise that many young and loved people have met their fates doing just as you are doing. Remember your family and friends, the people you care about and the ones who care about you, and I hope that you take every precaution to keep yourself safe. We will miss you. xoxo

3:26 PM AEDT | THE real stars of the Great Victorian Bike Ride are the old folks, the people aged 70-plus. The ride is full of them, nuggetty men and women quietly peddling into the wind and occasional rain, ploughing slowly up hills, seemingly unstoppable, giving hope to us all.
