BRETT Goodes and Aaron Edwards appear certainties to line up for North Ballarat against Northern Bullants in the Victorian Football League in Ballarat tomorrow.
Beyond that though, it is anyone's guess what might happen to the Selkirk Roosters' structure.
North Ballarat coach Gerard FitzGerald is at the mercy of his North Melbourne counterpart Dean Laidley.
Laidley will finalise the Kangaroos' line-up today - leaving the way clear for FitzGerald to make what will certainly be some tough decisions.
Even if there are no other changes, he will have to find places for Goodes, who is returning from a corked thigh, and Edwards, on his way back from a broken leg.
Goodes was enjoying a career-best season before being unexpectedly sidelined a month ago.
He initially took no notice of a knock, but all too quickly found himself debilitated with a problem similar to captain Shaune Moloney.
The VFL representative's return is timely, with three home and award rounds remaining before the finals.
Edwards has not played with the Roosters this season.
If he regains match fitness quickly enough, Edwards will find himself back in the AFL before the finals.
Goodes and Edwards were last night among seven additions to an expanded interchange for North Ballarat.
They were joined by North Melbourne trio Shannon Watt, Corey Jones and Ed Lower, who were all part of the Kangaroos' winning effort against the Western Bulldogs on Sunday, as well as Ben Taylor and Jake Dignan, who continue to impress in the North Ballarat reserves.
North Melbourne selected seven on its interchange, including Lower, Jones, Watt and Blake Grima, who again impressed for the Roosters against Casey Scorpions five days ago.
Lower has been back and forth between the Kangaroos and Roosters, while Watt and Jones have also made appearances in the VFL.
As always Northern Bullants have a massive Carlton flavour with 21 players from the Blues' list.
North Ballarat's hopes of making the VFL reserves finals are teetering on the edge.
Two defeats in a row have the Roosters clinging to fifth position by percentage, going into their last home and away match against Northern Bullants in Ballarat tomorrow.
Two rounds remain, but with North Ballarat having a last round it must win this encounter to have any chance of remaining in the top five.
